Mahatma Gandhi said �The future depends on what we do in the present.� It�s not an earth shattering epiphany by any means, but how many of us nonprofit leaders, staff or board members or volunteers take the time we should to create a map to our future? It�s tough to think about what you should be doing today to meet your organization�s needs tomorrow, let alone what those needs will be one, five or 10 years from now. The staffs at Great Lakes Center for Development and the Michigan Nonprofit Association encourage to carve a day out to think about the future, how you are going to get there and what tools you�ll need at the 4th Annual U.P. Nonprofit Conference. Guest speakers like Dione Alexander from the Nonprofit Finance Fund and Jamie Levy from J.D. Levy & Assoc. will talk to attendees about issues such as nonprofit fiscal management and the future focused board. A workshop menu covering a variety of topics of interest to nonprofits is being developed. Once again, the conference provides the opportunity to network with peers and take some time out of our busy schedules to rejuvenate and enrich the missions so important to our communities.
